A. Outcomes in UCBT after a reduced intensity preparative regimen using fludarabine and busulfan.
This is a report of a study to evaluate the feasibility of reduced intensity cord blood transplantation using a non-TBI regimen in adult patients with advanced hematologic malignancies. See Annotated Bibliography IV. section i. Reduced intensity and non-myeloablative CB Transplants, Citation #7

B. GVHD

1. An article illustrating cutaneous manifestations of chronic GVHD in color photographs.
Fourteen excellent photographs enhance this article. See Annotated Bibliography VIII. GVHD, Citation #2

2. Excellent responses of refractory acute GVHD in 3 patients Using rituximab.
Although anecdotal, the three consecutive responses are of interest. See Annotated Bibliography VIII, section i. GVHD in BMT and PBSC Hematopoietic Cell Transplants Citation #9

C. Outcomes of 122 UCB transplants using cord blood from a large cord blood bank.
Transplants were performed from June 1998 to June 2003 during a time when understanding of the optimal TNC/kg was being developed. See Annotated Bibliography I. Reviews, Citation #12

D. Expansion of cord blood-derived cytokine-induced killer cells for the treatment of leukemia relapse after UCBT.
An approach to overcome a disadvantage of UCB transplantation, i.e., the lack of availability of donor cells for DLI or for graft failure. See Annotated Bibliography XVIII. Ex-vivo expansion of HPCs, Citation #3

E. Autologous cord blood transplantation in the treatment of a child with leukemia.
An apparently successful transplant using a privately banked cord blood unit. No comment is made regarding whether a matched allogeneic unit was available but, instead, the authors indicate that they considered an autologous unit to be preferable. See Annotated Bibliography VII. CBT in children, section i. Malignant Disorders, Citation #14
