The National Marrow Donor Program
(NMDP)

www.marrow.org

The National Marrow Donor Program® helps people who need a life-saving marrow or blood cell transplant. We connect patients, doctors, donors and researchers to the resources they need to help more people live longer and healthier lives.

To achieve our mission, we:
  • Search our Registry – the largest listing of volunteer donors and cord blood units in the world.
  • Support patients and their doctors throughout the transplant process.
  • Match patients with the best donor or cord blood unit using innovative science and technology.

The NMDP has a growing Network of cord blood banks, comprised of major U.S. banks and international partners. Our Network provides a single-point of access to the largest listing of cord blood units in the United States.

The EBMT aims to promote all aspects associated with the transplantation of hematopoietic stem cells from all donor sources and donor types including basic and clinical research, education, standardization, quality control, and accreditation for transplant procedures. The EBMT has been active in cord blood transplantation. The EBMT has over 2,000 individual members from more than 500 centers all over the world. The on-line membership list is continuously updated and may be reached from the Home Page by clicking on Membership and then on Membership List, or go to:

The Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR) unites and builds on the strengths of two leaders in the field of blood and marrow transplantation: the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) and the Medical College of Wisconsin's International Bone Marrow Transplant Registry and Autologous Blood and Marrow Transplant Registry (IBMTR/ABMTR).
This partnership will make it easier to design, conduct and support clinical studies that involve large numbers of patients from multiple transplant centers - the types of studies that are needed to answer critical questions in the field of blood and marrow transplantation. The Center is committed to increasing application and access to cellular transplant therapy, as well as improving outcomes. The ultimate goal is to help more transplant patients live longer, healthier lives.

World Marrow Donor Association

www.worldmarrow.org

WMDA is a voluntary organisation of representatives of stem cell donor registries, cord blood banks, other organisations and individuals, with an interest in hemopoietic stem cell transplantation. It provides a forum for mutual discussion of all issues regarding the clinical use of hemopoietic stem cells from unrelated donors across international boundaries. These discussions, which take place in working groups, make it possible to formulate guidelines on for example logistics, quality control, accreditation, ethics, finances, information technology and registry accreditation.
